Celebrating 15 years with QCS Staffing - Ben Alger
The year is 2010 the iPad is the newest technology; Instagram is in its infancy and Jason Derulo is at the top of the charts.
QCS Staffing (known then as Quanta) was welcoming a young Recruitment Consultant by the name of Ben Alger to join their business.
We sat down with Ben to reflect on the past 15 years and what he loves most about QCS Staffing.
What is your role and why did you join QCS Staffing?
My Role at QCS Staffing is Chief Sales Officer and I am responsible for our Life Science’s business unit based out of our headquarters in Berkhamsted. I report directly into the Board and work with the Senior Leadership Team on all things QCS. I am also well known for completing our Wheel of Fortune in house and am highly regarded as the Sous-Chef for our car park BBQS!!
I joined Quanta (back in 2010) because it offered what I was looking for at the time; locally based to me, lots of training on offer a defined career progression plan linked to my efforts and the opportunity to travel / meet clients and candidates on an international basis. Culturally the organisation aligned to me as well.
Ben epitomises everything that is great about QCS Staffing. The dedication and love for his craft that he has demonstrated over the past 15 years is clear for all to see and the impact that he has had on the growth of the business, the nurturing of staff and the benefit to our candidates and clients is vast. – Andrew Pieri, Chief Revenue Officer
I have had the pleasure of working with Ben for almost 11 years and I can confidently say that Ben is an exceptional and remarkable professional and individual.
Since I joined as a Delivery Executive, Ben has always been one of my go-to people for advice and guidance. His unparalleled dedication, expertise, and genuine passion for his work and the business have always stood out.
His ability to stay calm under pressure and his innovative thinking are truly inspiring. Beyond his professional skills, Ben is a wonderful team player. His “love for the game” and positive attitude make him a joy to work with and learn from. - Virginie Taffin, Associate Director of Delivery
What do you love most about your job?
That is a tough question because I can’t narrow it down to anything specific. I love the people I work with and the incredible team we have at QCS. I love our culture and how we are all aligned as one team to achieve the same end goal. I love being involved in staff development and career progression. I love seeing us grow as a business and be recognised globally for our service.
All that being said, I still love nothing more than getting out of the office, travelling to new locations and developing new partnerships within life changing industries.
Ben, a huge thank you for 15 incredible years at QCS. From the moment you joined, you have always placed our staff, clients, and candidates at the centre of your thinking. Your influence across QCS is huge, your enthusiasm boundless, and your willingness to help others without hesitation a hallmark of your leadership.
Much of QCS’ success over the past 15-years can be routed back to you in some form and the foundations built will last a lifetime.
I would personally like to thank you for your hard work; I have loved every minute of working with you; I have learnt so much from you and look forward to even more success in the future. - David Broome, CEO
What are your proudest moments?
There are so many moments to be proud of over the last 15 years. If I summarised these then in more recent times it would be achieving promotion to CSO and being involved with the opening of our US office in Raleigh, NC.
Some stand out moments for me would be receiving the Queens Award for Enterprise - International Trade and also the Princess Royal Training Award.
I am also very proud of the QCS team and how everyone worked through those crazy Covid times and how we directly supported organisations that were manufacturing vaccines globally.
Working with Ben over the past 15 years has been an incredible journey and great fun. I have had the pleasure of working alongside him throughout my time at QCS, and I have learned a lot from him over the years. We have had the opportunity to work closely on a number of projects, and his ability to tackle challenges head-on and his innovative solutions are a real strength of his. He works true to our values and leads by example in everything he does. Beyond his professional skills, Ben's sense of humour always brings enjoyment to everyone’s day, and it has been a pleasure working with him over the last 15 years. – Lauren Potter, Chief Operating Officer
Do you have any words of wisdom for anyone wanting to join QCS Staffing?
Be the sponge, absolute cliché statement in staffing, but when you come into an organisation you don't understand their values, their processes or maybe even the industry. Be the sponge and soak up absolutely everything from across the organisation. Never be too proud to think you know better than anybody. Be willing to put in the effort to learn to understand, be willing to go above and beyond and at times, to make personal sacrifices to ensure that the service you deliver to the clients and candidates is nothing but excellent.
Also, smile, enjoy what you do and have fun!!
