It’s the year 2010, the UK was emerging from the global financial crisis, David Cameron became PM, Downton Abbey and Sherlock had British TV viewers captivated, and Apple came out with the first iPad. But there was another significant event that can’t go unmentioned, Alex McCrudden joined QCS Staffing (or Quanta as we were known then) and started his career in IT recruitment.

Since then, he has become one of QCS’ most reliable and trusted colleagues, consistently delivering in his area, hiring into multiple new businesses and making lasting relationships with contractors and clients across Europe.

We spoke to Alex about the last 15 years at QCS Staffing.

What is your role and why did you join QCS Staffing?

My role is Global Account Manager, and I supply my clients with technical professionals that work onsite in UK & European locations, and remote consultants from around the world.

Back in 2010, there were some pragmatic reasons why I joined QCS - I was looking for a new job and I preferred the option of working locally in Berkhamsted rather than London!

During the interview process I was impressed by the company’s focus and success in Technical and Life Science recruitment. Having been in construction recruitment for two years during a period when that sector was badly hit, QCS offered a new and exciting challenge. And when I first came in they also looked like a nice bunch of people, even though no one answered the door, so I had to let myself in and strolled up to the sales floor all by myself. There’s no chance that would happen nowadays.... I can never remember the door code!

Congratulations, Alex, on reaching the incredible milestone of 15 years – where has time gone?  Your unwavering dedication to our "one team" ethos has been nothing short of legendary. Popping into the group WhatsApp chat just once a year, it's like a rare comet sighting – brief.

Your commitment to great client and candidate care has set a high standard for all of us. Always going above and beyond to ensure every client and candidate feels valued and supported is truly remarkable.

Here's to many more years of your unique blend of hard work, humour, and that special touch of sarcasm that keeps us all on our toes. Cheers to you, Alex! Joanna Belmar, Associate Director of Business Services

What do you love most about your job?

As a family man, I really appreciate the hybrid working policy which allows for a good work/life balance and the early Friday finish is a big plus!

I also love the travel aspect of my job, especially the regular trips to Italy and Spain. Maintaining the relationships I’ve made with contractors I've placed, and the clients, is very rewarding and those countries have their perks.... paella, steak, wine! But the most satisfying aspect of my job is placing people in new opportunities that are right for them and their careers. I enjoy engaging with people from different locations and backgrounds and supporting them through the recruitment process. It’s great job satisfaction when someone gets selected, and I’ve received some excellent feedback over the years from the candidates I’ve helped.

I am truly very thankful for Alex’s dedicated 15 years of service to QCS Staffing, he always goes above and beyond to deliver exceptional customer service. His enthusiasm for client trips to Spain is infectious, and once you get to know him, you'll find a genuinely caring and thoughtful individual who truly values his relationships. Alex always puts the customer and his contractors at the forefront of everything he does, ensuring their needs are met with the utmost dedication and care.   Here’s too many more years, I really do appreciate what you bring to our business – thank you! - Spencer Trigg, CEO

What is your proudest moment at QCS Staffing?

My proudest moment is onboarding a global non-profit as a new client and developing it from the first conversations into one of QCS Staffing's top five clients with a constant 60 strong team of contractors. I’ve put a lot into this Account over the past decade and more, and I’m incredibly proud of the success I’ve had, and the friendships I’ve gained along the way.

Congratulations to Alex on 15 years at QCS. His expertise, endless wisdom and the occasional dad jokes are second to none and have made a huge impact on myself and the team, and we are incredibly lucky to have him.

Of course, I cannot celebrate without mentioning our lunchtime table tennis battles - all these years and I’m still winning. Maybe a different outcome after 20 years?

Here’s to many more great years ahead!  - Denis Draia, Sales Manager

Do you have any words of wisdom for anyone wanting to join QCS Staffing?

Well, if you get asked at interview stage about your most embarrassing moment, probably don’t be as honest as I was! (No further elaboration, so don’t ask!).
But if you're interested in working in one QCS’s booming industries, then it’s a definite good choice. You only have to look at our success in these sectors and our company growth; I've seen the organisation grow from 25 people to over 100, and I’m sure we’ll continue to expand. It really is a decent place to work, and it's been a rewarding journey for me.

If you’re looking for a workplace that invests in its people and provides opportunities to all its team, look no further than QCS. We have live job vacancies in the UK and USA. Check them out today.
