The new way of working: QCS Staffing's Hybrid Working Policy
Red, green and yellow social distancing wrists bands, warm sunshine and the
smell of QCS Staffing's famous carpark BBQ – this was the scene as our team gathered as
Director, David Broome, shared our Hybrid Working Policy. Prior to this the
majority of the QCS Staffing's team had been working from home for nearly 18 months –
learning and adapting to the monumental changes whilst continuing to succeed.
Earlier this year research showed that 85% of remote workers wanted a hybrid approach, this seemed the best solution for
the remote team at QCS Staffing. The Hybrid Working Policy was created by our
leadership and HR teams and was launched in September this year, with the
majority of team members hitting the office three times a week and working from
home for the other two.
Three days in the office gives the team a chance for some
in-person human interaction and communicate more effectively with colleagues,
this is something that is done far better face to face and links directly to our company values. Unlike digital
interactions it leaves less room for misinterpretation and more for better
judgment on body language and tone. This means any projects that need
collaboration may be completed more efficiently in the office. As importantly,
training completed in-person is much more effective and coaching has enabled
our team to exceed their professional objectives in 2021.
The other two days at home gives the team flexibility, time
to focus away from office distractions, eliminates their commute, and it may
also increase productivity - a recent survey state that working remotely can increase productivity up to 77%.
The flexibility of hybrid working explains why it’s a sort after benefit by job hunters, but wellbeing is a factor too. A survey conducted by Envoy shows that 34% of participants believed that hybrid working would also improve their mental health.
We knew when creating the Hybrid Working Policy, it was important to get the right balance and that’s why we will continue to monitor and review the policy. It’s essential that it aligns with our values and works well for our team. The team are stars and adapted brilliantly to 100% remote working, but the social aspect and human interaction was greatly missed. It’s been great to be back in the office with the team, host car park BBQs and visit the local pubs too!
And whilst many of our team are splitting their time between the office and their homes, we have recruited team members that are 100% fully remote too. We understand that some excellent candidates may not be in close proximity to our offices, but the Covid-19 pandemic has taught us that the onboarding process can be successfully completed remotely and with the right support from managers and colleagues they can flourish at their job from a distance.
As our business continues to grow, we are looking for talented individuals to join our team and help us unite people with life changing industries. So, if you have sales or recruitment experience and are interested in our hybrid working policy check out our vacancies or contact Josi today.
