This is a fantastic opportunity for a Project Estimator to join our major, global pharmaceutical client on their latest new-build project based in Maryland, this is a large-scale greenfield capital project and investing more than $1bn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for the API manufacturing campus project, covering all phases from conceptual design through final construction.
- Conduct comprehensive cost analysis, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracts to ensure accurate budget allocations.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop realistic project schedules that align with budgetary constraints and milestones.
- Analyze and evaluate bids from contractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive and fair pricing.
- Identify potential cost risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring project financial integrity.
- Prepare regular cost reports and updates for senior management, highlighting any variances from the budget and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of all cost-related activities, ensuring transparency and ease of audit.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, providing clarity on cost-related matters and responding to any queries promptly.
- Ensure all estimating practices comply with industry standards and regulations, particularly those specific to pharmaceutical manufacturing projects.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project estimating for large-scale capital projects, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
- Demonstrable experience managing estimates for projects valued at $500 million or more.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., AACE, PMP) are a plus.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project, ProEst, or similar). Strong knowledge of cost control principles and methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop accurate cost models.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring precision in all estimates and reports.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Lebanon, Indiana once per quarter for on-site evaluations and meetings.
