Project Controls Engineer - Life Science - Philadelphia, USA

The role of Project Controls Engineer will be of key importance in delivering a North American manufacturing presence and supply chain to the local market on behalf of our client. This role is based in in Philadelphia and is advertised on a permanent.


Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to teams through subordinate managers or through complex matrix relationships.
  • Accountable for the performance and results of multiple (or complex regional) teams
  • Develop departmental plans, define priorities and allocate resources to meet objectives and annual plan.
  • Integrate work across units, looking for ways to continuously improve performance of the department.
  • Decisions are guided by the objectives of the function.
  • Identify and solve complex problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department.
  • Actively engage and provide professional support to project teams in the areas of Project Controls.
  • Contribute as SME to the development of governance, processes, and training materials related to Engineering Controls.
  • Where appropriate, supports project reviews in the Engineering Controls field, to ensure that large projects follow and apply the Engineering Controls related guidelines.
  • Prepare schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis.
  • Assist with review and development, issuance and evaluation of subcontract change orders as required for their project tracking.

Requirements:
  • University degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Industrial), Business or Construction Management (mandatory)
  • PMI certification or similar (Desired)
  • Extensive experience of Project Controls on EPC Projects
  • Good experience on risk assessment and risk management for Capex projects
  • Extensive experience with Project Planning and Scheduling in typical market project tools
  • Extensive experience with resource management and allocation for capex projects
  • In-depth expertise with cost estimates and cost analysis
  • Specialized knowledge of engineering and construction management
  • Basic understanding of variance analysis
  • Ability to respond to audits
  • Comfortable overseeing complete project life cycle
  • Fluency in English is a requirement
