Drug Safety takes off at QCS Staffing
Ongoing business growth and development has seen QCS Staffing go from strength to strength in recent years, which has led to our expansion into new subsectors. As part of this, we’re developing our focus within drug safety, an increasingly vital part of the life sciences sector. With life sciences being our largest division at QCS Staffing, we are excited to increase our breadth of services for both our clients and candidates.
Drug safety (also known as pharmacovigilance), is the science of detection, assessment, understanding and prevention of side effects which allows us to understand more about the risks and benefits of a medicine, in order for patients to be fully aware of any side effects of treatments. At QCS Staffing we are proud to be working with the most reputable Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, CROs and Medical Device companies around the world within the niche area of Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance.
Drug safety is a market that’s set to boom in the coming years as governments become even more concerned with controlling the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other products within life sciences. Its rapid growth is due to ever-evolving product safety requirements, medical advances, new technologies, changing customer requirements and relentless regulatory updates. People who work within this space are tasked with not only keeping up to date with, understanding and complying with the latest regulations, but also creating opportunities within the highly-regulated life sciences landscape. Due to this, skilled and qualified drug safety professionals are in high demand by organisations across the UK, Europe and the rest of the world, including far-flung locations such as India, Australia and even the Bahamas!
At QCS Staffing, we’ve established a drug safety division to support the growing demand from both clients and candidates in the industry. After being approached by individuals and businesses regarding our capacity in this field, we realised the demand for this type of consultancy was only going to increase. Led by Andrew Pieri and Kathryn Taylor, the team is building relationships with new and existing clients and sourcing the best candidates on the market.
An average day for the team consists of speaking with clients – typically managers and directors – about their team, products and recruitment needs. This is balanced with candidate sourcing and attraction, with the team focused on expanding our existing candidate base to cater to the niche locations and requirements that our clients have. We recruit for both contract and permanent professionals, with our growing permanent division helping to source the right candidates in this area. Candidate attraction is always a priority for us, with the team using our internal database as well as other tools to identify talent.
Principal Consultant, Kathryn Taylor shares her experience of the highly specialised area:
"Specialising in the niche area of Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance has been my ultimate goal in recruitment. Over 17 years of experience of solely working within this vertical market has given me a huge advantage in understanding the needs of both my clients and candidates. As the ever-growing market is changing, so is the need for more information surrounding Drug Safety and Pharmacovigilance, thus making this a busy and buoyant market. I provide a professional service at all levels and pride myself on delivering to the best of my ability."
New business is also important for us as we continue to grow within drug safety. This dedicated vertical sales consultancy means we focus all our attention on both clients and candidates, which allows us to really immerse ourselves in the world of drug safety and ensure we stay on the cutting edge of movements and trends, both for candidates and clients. As the scope of the market changes and our clients demand more qualified professionals, we expect to see significant growth within QCS Staffing's drug safety function, so the team is constantly working to keep their knowledge of the industry updated in line with market trends. Ongoing research and training is key, especially in such a specialised industry – we expect our candidates to be up-to-date with the latest rules and guidelines, and we ensure we do the same ourselves.
