The CQV (Commissioning, Qualification and Validation) market is rapidly evolving, and with that growth comes a variety of exciting new projects. While this provides plenty of opportunities for skilled contractors, it can mean that clients are competing for the best talent as similar projects come to market at the same time.

This was the case for one of our largest clients, who approached us in 2015 to provide resourcing support for a new build facility in Ireland. With a similar project launching near the site at the same time, we were tasked with the challenge of attracting candidates to our client’s site to ensure it became operational quickly, efficiently and compliantly. Our client’s project was an exciting opportunity for CQV professionals, however the market saturation meant that candidates had their choice of projects to work on. As a result, the team at QCS Staffing needed to work closely with the client to identify the unique selling points of the project and target the right candidates accordingly.

Our initial focus was on identifying people who would be the right fit for our client. The QCS Staffing team was selected for this work due to our +15 year history of resourcing start up projects in Ireland, along with our extensive network throughout the UK, Europe and further afield. Many agencies do not have this international talent pool, or the deep understanding of both the market and the skills of our contractors.

While the project is based in Ireland, our client company runs from the US, requiring buy-in from the US procurement team. This meant that we needed to act as a truly global supplier, communicating outside of regular UK business hours to ensure the entire company was on board with our approach and allow us to maintain a positive, trusting relationship with the client.

Due to competing projects on the market, our consultants needed to effectively communicate the key selling points of this project to existing candidates in our talent pool, as well as identify other potential contractors. We sourced candidates from Ireland, the UK, Scotland, the Netherlands and even Canada to help make up the large and diverse team currently on site. Because of our willingness to go on-site and gain a strong understanding of our client’s requirements, we could identify what would most attract candidates to the roles. Our client was offering lengthy contracts, good rates and valuable work with a truly global corporation, so we were able to sell these elements of the project to help secure the right people.

Our international, personal approach to resourcing quality candidates for this project has resulted in us placing over 150 contractors on-site, with open communication and frequent positive feedback directly from the client. While the project is entering the end phase of the Capex programme, we are looking to the future and anticipate continuing to work closely with this client on future projects and expansions, along with continuing to provide top contractors to the international market.
